8/19/2023 0 Comments Ikea kallax wall mountOnce I figured out my solution to divide up the space, it was time to decorate. I chose the largest Kallax that Ikea sold because it was large enough to keep the bedroom out of sight, but the pass-through storage was perfect for allowing light to reach through to the dining room. I needed to divide the area between our bedroom area and the dining room area, but had to be careful not to choose anything too solid that would block the light coming from the small windows in the bedroom area. Now I'm all for open concept plans, but I don't like the idea of having our bed fully visible when we have guests over or even while I'm making or eating dinner. In our lower level, we had one large open space that I divided up with tall storage units and curtains placed strategically behind the columns and support beams. The only doors were the front door and the bathroom door. When we moved into our apartment, I was coming from a tiny studio to a HUGE (technically one bedroom) apartment with no doors or walls. If you are a renter like me, Ikea storage units are absolutely essential because they are affordable AND efficient. After years of city living I've learned how to maximize my vertical space for optimal storage efficiency. If you live in the city, or in a smaller starter home, then you know storage and space come at a premium. Hey DIYers! I'm super excited to share this amazing space-saving Ikea hack with you today!
